She bit her lip and patted her shoulder, “Oh my goodness… Julchen you aren’t a whore I assure you. Things like this just come unexpectedly I’m sure your feelings just consumed you…” She had heard many stories such as this, but they never involved anybody close to her. Her mood seemed mature however in the inside she wasn’t quite sure how to react when she told her what was bothering her. Corazon wasn’t one for spouting gossip but more of listening. She didn’t want to ask her who it was, that would be prying into more personal manners. “I won’t tell anyone else about this, you have my word”

“Despite that, I can’t ignore such a huge sin…”, she sighed wearily, dread obvious on her pale, tired face. It was never wise to speak like this, never wise to drown yourself in horrid thoughts, but… “Sorry for that! Something must have taken over my senses-“, Julchen took a step forward and stretched out her arms and shook her head, shaking off what was left of the obvious turmoil she had. She glanced at the woman who she had just shared a secret to, a forced grin on her face, “-thank you for listening to my absurdities.”

The fact that she had done the deed didn’t faze Corazon at all, she was more worried about Julchen’s welfare and how she was dealing with it. She could see that she was emotionally exhausted about the whole thing. She stood up and gave her another hug, “Goodness me dear, it looks like it will take more than just drinking than just a few drinks to drown your troubles away” she grinned, trying to cheer the other up even just for a bit. “In a way I’m glad though that you told me about this, it tells me that you trust me enough to tell me what troubles you. I just want to let you know… I want to help you in any way that I can” She was very sincere with her words and smiled at Julchen, “Now come on, we go a ball to attend to. It’s time to forget about the troubles for this one night!”

It had been a couple slow minutes of walking beside his horse before he saw someone who might have been Corazon. Bright blonde hair, blue eyes, and very tall. Perhaps that was her, standing by a fruit stand, talking - or flirting - with a man. What pointed her out to the Queen? Perhaps her beauty? Maybe her laugh, loud and clear through the whole crowd…

As he finally looked forward again he saw a woman on a horse heading straight for them. A woman in purple folds of cloth, brown hair and sparkling eyes. His horse whinnied, bucking a little when they almost collided - a good thing Kiku had been leading his. Oh, his back hurt simply thinking about getting back on that animal for another couple hours to return home. “My apologies,” he said softly with a low bow, smiling to himself. He found who he was looking for, simply telling by the way she spoke, and looked - completely different from the blonde maiden, if she was a maiden - and dressed, like royalty. “Are you Corazon?” he asked, straightening to peer up at her, seeing as she was on a horse.

Corazon could only blink from shock when the man had asked who she was, she had never seen him in her life and wanted to know why he had asked her such a thing. “Ah, yes I am…” she wanted to make this quick, she was technically working and wished not to be disturbed. However if the cloaked man who looked like he has traveled quite a distance to see her, she would have to talk to him after the work had been finished. She also assumed that he wasn’t probably who he seemed like since he had bowed to her. Something that Royals do in apology.

She lightly tugged at her reins and smiled at the man, “I am sorry my dear sir, but if you do wish to speak with me you’re going to have to wait a bit for I am on duty right now” The ace certainly didn’t want to wave him off, “Do you mind waiting in an inn? I will try in the best of my ability to hurry so we may talk” There was nothing real striking about the former Hearts commoner, she as tanned as a laborer with some mannerisms of a noble. It was an odd, yet fitting combination for someone such as her.

queenofheartsjapan:

Whether it was simply to be rebellious against advisor’s wishes or for the the feel of wanderlust, the raven didn’t know. Hooded and mounted on a beautiful chestnut horse, Queen Kiku traveled towards the Spades kingdom. He was disguised in a dark brown cape and commoner clothes, something someone of royalty shouldn’t be expected to ever wear. Yet how would he be able to sneak out of the Hearts kingdom if he wore red robes that shouted out where he was from?

Dressed in whites and browns, he galloped with his horse, determined to see a certain someone who he had heard rumours of. Not rumours on the particularly bad side, but rumours that he wanted proven for himself right or wrong. He had eyes set for a woman of the name of Corazon. An ‘Seer’ of Spades.

For hours he had one question; was she truly a seer? His long journey had revolved around one question, making out other questions of the sort. He had always been interested in those sorts of things, riddles and questions that involved a lot of time and thought. He didn’t like knowing answers to questions such as history and sciences. Which was why he had to escape, at least for a day.

There was the outer rim of the Spades’ towns. He slowed his horse’s gallop to a trot and looked around himself before stopping completely, jumping off the horse. He walked the big animal into the village and tried to act like a normal outsider, pulling his hood a little farther forward so that his face wouldn’t be seen too well.

Another day, another shift.

It was nothing out of the ordinary for the Ace of Spades, but it surely could be better even just for a bit. She adjust her purple cape, which suggested that she was someone of an extremely high ranking position in the castle. It wasn’t something she wanted to display but she loved the shade that it was in, she simply could not help it.

Dressed in her uniform, Corazon tugged at the reins of her hazel horse and stopped by one of the villages in the Spade’s territory. Not only was she on patrol for today but also to look around for potential training grounds for the Trackers. She rubbed her temples, slightly exhausted from the workload that she had received. She was enthusiastic about the new responsibilities but completely underestimated the effort of time management. “Dios ko… Only a few more times before I’m through…”

The Ace smiled and greeted a few of the people, she asked some of the elders about their land and if it was possible to borrow their land for a short while. It was going really well but then she had accidentally run into a light colored horse. “Oh! Pardon me, I didn’t see you there” she apologized.

Corazon tilted her head from sympathy and patted her shoulder, “I see… Did something happen to you while I was on my journey back to Spades? I hope he didn’t do anything horrible to you or I would go right ahead and kick his ass for making you feel down” She hasn’t spoken much to the Hearts knight, but she had felt a friendly connection with her when they had met. She was important to her now and didn’t want to see her sad. The Ace wrapped an arm around her shoulders and patted her hand in comfort.

Could she find comfort in her? She wanted to let it pass, but just this once, she wanted to be weak and rely on someone else. Corazon was a good person. A friend she was glad she had met despite the rarity of their meetings. “Can you…keep a secret? I made love with a man…who is already with someone else.”, she started laughing now, almost hysterically, “And to think I was starting to like him. Oh, what a fool. What an incredible fool. I must..I must look like a whore to his lover now and I can’t blame her.”

She bit her lip and patted her shoulder, “Oh my goodness… Julchen you aren’t a whore I assure you. Things like this just come unexpectedly I’m sure your feelings just consumed you…” She had heard many stories such as this, but they never involved anybody close to her. Dealing with all the paperwork that had to be done, Corazon sighed and grabbed her cup of diluted vodka to keep her awake. The King assigned her to not only take care and train of the new recruits but also the Trackers, which was something completely different from the former. It was more about the home security that looked out for any signs of an upcoming rebellion or dangers near the borders of the kingdom. She would have to create a new circular just for them along with some research so she does it right. “Dios ko this system needs to be updated… These techniques are definitely not cutting it at all…” she groaned and took up a book that dealt with the subject.

A knock on the door interrupted her and she kept herself from screaming out to them to give her some space so she can finish her work. She took a deep breathe in and got up to open the door, hoping that it was urgent and not something that her men can handle themselves. “Hm? Oh hello Berwald, what brings you here?” she asked, surprised with his presence.

Corazon raised a brow and in an instant saw something that clouded the others’ thoughts. “Yes yes we should catch up a bit” she smiled and led her outside, “Pretty crowded in there don’t you think?” The Ace laughed and patted her back, “I’m not used to wearing dresses such as these, I borrowed this from a lady in waiting who happened to be my size” She approached this a little carefully, she had no desire to provoke her friend in any manner but she wanted to find out what was bugging her. ”Found any men that catch your fancy hm?” she grinned and lightly nudged Julchen.

“How convenient then. I had to purchase one, although I’m not exactly regretting it. It could be useful for some other time.” Julchen blushed at her last question, fidgeting as she tried to find an answer. “No,”, she shook her head, a bit disheartened, “He’s not here. Or I didn’t see him here. Thankfully I won’t see him, ever.” That a bit too cruel, and she wanted to see him again, of course. But right now, everything seemed too wrong and horrible, the words flowed too freely without her even thinking about what they had meant.

Uncomfortable with her being there, Corazon shifted from one foot to the other and stood by the King and Queen of Spades’ carriage. She was told to attend it with them whether she wanted to or not simply because she apparently needed (and quoted) that she ‘had to learn how to be a lady, just as a knight learns chivalry’. Last time she checked, the Ace before her never went to such grand events let alone, a ball. To add to it, it was hosted by the Diamonds. Instantly meaning that it would be extravagant.

The Ace sighed, straightening out the skirt of her dress which one of the ladies-in-waiting had lent to her. It was a classic Spade dress, all blue and white and purple lace lining at the hems. The sleeves reached right in the middle of her forearms and had a nice drapey look to it. She was spared from wearing a corset (“Thank god”)but not from the tight fitting heels. She took a deep breath, patted down her hair which was up in a half ponytail, and headed into the castle grounds in hopes that she wouldn’t get that much attention from the people attending it.

This was not something Antonio had been looking forward to. He did not enjoy having to look for nice clothes and he most certainly not enjoy having to stand around a crowded place. But he supposed he had to attend, for the sake of his kingdom.

The knight had dressed in the finest clothes he could find, consisting of a pressed green tunic and a pair of forest green pants. Okay, he looked pretty silly, but it wasn’t too bad for a last minute outfit.

Antonio sighed and walked near the entrance, ready to leave (or possibly fight) at any given moment. It was there that he spotted someone he hadn’t seen in a while. That fortune teller girl. Did he ever learn what she meant when she said “watch for the turtles”? That line still rang in his mind and he was determined to find an answer.

Quickly, he walked up to her and gave her a tap on the shoulder.

Corazon was fairly satisfied with the conversations she had with a few of the Royals. Apparently she was dubbed as ‘exotic’ due to her tanned skin, which seemed rather unusual to them as they were mostly fair skinned. She had not yet said that she was the Ace of Spades for she was slightly insecure on what their opinions would be if she had told them. She decided to just keep it to herself until the King called for her.

Feeling a tap on her shoulder she reacted by instinct was balled up her fist ready to punch whoever it was. It gave her quite a fright. She never liked being approached from behind. However she quickly calmed down and smoothed out her dress. It was just the knight she had met during her journey back to the Spades Kingdom. “Oh… Good evening sir and how are you? It’s been a while hasn’t it?” she gave him a friendly smile, “I apologize for ah… Almost punching you. It’s a reflex” God I hope no one saw that.

She nodded in agreement, “She was one hell of a mother I’ll tell you that. Between you and I, I think she wore the pants in the relationship. My father always tried to make up for it by bonding with my brothers a lot, but he was terribly fond of me hence the masculinity” She laughed and petted the horse.

The Ace raised a brow, “Was there a reason why this specific Knight always quarreled with you?” She patted the others’ shoulder in understanding, “I know how you feel, that was how it was when I was given the title Ace. They weren’t really inclined to the idea of having a female as their army commander”

“I’m not too surprised, from your stories so far, it’s not hard to tell. I look forward to the day you find your own match, it would be interesting.” Would she end with a blacksmith, too? Or a fellow soldier? Julchen couldn’t help but wonder who can make a strong, independent woman as Corazon fall. It was more interesting than the little tales she accumulated from having too may matchmakers for friends.

“Ah..that wretched man. We first fought in the forest, and due to the rain, we got separated from both our reinforcements, so we had a little one on one.” She tapped the scar on her cheek and grinned, “A little souvenir from that day, although I’m proud to say I’ve won. He became my self-proclaimed rival ever since then.” Julchen wasn’t so sure if the thought of them having the same situation before was good, or bad. It was horrible, even more so to imagine someone else had to suffer the same judgement she received before. “Sexist bastards.”, was all she could say before she chuckled.

“Bah… I don’t have time for such things. The last person I had ‘liked’ was the previous Ace. He was quite a man, then he left without saying a word…” she sighed and thought about him for a few moments. He was the one that witnessed her fight with two drunkards outside the bar she had worked in. He also probably knew that she was female right then and there but didn’t mind it much. She appreciated his guidance and eventually came to like. Sadly the timing was horrible and there was a change in kings, causing the Ace before her to leave. She may be a carefree woman, but she also a busy one too.

“Ah so he was a sexist swine eh? Tch, I’ve had my fair share of them but never a rival to tell you the truth. In fact I think I need one because I’ve been rather relaxed with the way I fight nowadays” Corazon laughed and shook her head. “It must have been one hell of a battle with a scar like that. What happened to him after you took his position?” She was curious about the whereabouts of Julchen’s rival, surely they didn’t just let him roam free right?

“Oooh, how interesting. It’s a shame though, for him to leave like that. He must be an amazing man, for him to catch your attention.” And like all tales, they could either be sad or happy. The thought alone that the man she had liked left in such a way was admittedly saddening on Julchen’s part, romance always gets to her for reasons unknown.

“What happened to him?” It started with a chuckle, which eventually left to a hearty laugh. What a good question, she thought. Her eyes became teary as her laughter died. Recomposing herself, she wiped a single tear from the corner of her eye and spoke, “He attacked my group before you see, and admittedly, we lost. There were too many and they caught us at a horrible time. As a final battle of sorts before getting taken by his man, we had a little one on one and he… well, he died.”

She smiled sentimentally at the thought of him, “Oh yes… He truly was…” Just mentioning him made her feel childish yet again. He had always had that effect on her somehow and it fascinated her to no end. The travel helped her try to forget feeling such things towards him specifically, but every now and then they would surface back up and take over her mind like a wildfire.

Corazon fell silent whe Julchen explained what had happened to her rival, “Ah so in the end you had beaten him. What a fitting ending for him” the words came out automatically, it was her commander side speaking. Logically in war, he deserved that sort of death, to die from a woman’s hand. She looked straight ahead and squinted her eyes to see the far view, “I believe we have to switch to water traveling now” she grinned and hooped off her horse. She had always felt something when she was around water, it gave her the feeling of some sort of freedom and the ability to be uncontainable.

I saved both rps in my drafts and will reply once I get on!

Have a good morning/night!
